Entry 1 Finally decided on my PIP topic - Self Injury. I think it’s a good topic to research since it’s a great psych. topic, I’ve had many people around me who’ve dont it (many interviews...) and it’s a very hush hush topic which I want to bring out in the open. Not enough people know the reality behind this issue and choose to make generalisations. I want to show people THE TRUTH. Entry 2 Made a general plan for my PIP today. Basically so I could cover what I needed to research. Oh, and I made up a title for my PIP too: “Afflictions Of The Soul - The truth behind self-injury” On top of that I have about three interviews lined up. One with the school counsellor, one with a past self-harmer, and one with a current self-injurer. The interview with the current S.I-er may be difficult because she is a tad unstable, but she agreed to it nonetheless. SAC teacher suggested I go to the counsellor to interview her first so I can also find out the steps I can take to handle the interview with the present self-harmer. I think it’s a good idea... Entry 3 Slight setback in my progress, themajor interview with the current self-harmer is scrapped. So I’m looking for another interviewee. But I guess that’s ok, since it would have been a dangerous interview, had it have gone ahead. Entry 4 Had the interview with Mrs Whitteron (School Counsellor) today. Went fairly well actually. She was very helpful and gave me a heap of information after the interview. *NEED TO STOP SAYING “UM”!!!* Mrs Whitteron also is going to contact a Dr Philomena Renna (Specialising psychologist in self-injury) for me to see if I can score an interview with her. Entry 5 Finished proposal and did my speech today. It went for EIGHT MINUTES. It felt like I was up there forever! I was going to have some colour charts and pictures and things for the presentation, but the art teacher who was going to print the stuf out for me didn’t even bother to show up. But the speech worked without it anyway. Entry 6 A uni friend of mine gave me a few medical journal articles to read through, which were really detailed and informative. One of which included a SURVEY ON STUDENTS IN SCHOOLS WHO SELF INJURE. So helpful! I’d wanted to distribute a survey, but never did due to ethical considerations. However the results from the source give me a good idea of the nature of adolescents who self-injure. Entry 7 Revised my action plan today, seeing that I did not factor in intros and conclusions and whatnot. Shuffled round information within the sections and changing the basic structure of some entirely. Also, minor setback... Some quotes that I have saved along the way, as well as some case studies, I’ve kind of misplaced their origins. Don’t know where they came from. I guess I can replace them... but with what??? Entry 8 Began writing PIP today... lot harder than I thought. Intro needs revising, as do other sections..... Entry 9 It took a few gallons of espresso, but it’s all finished!!!!!! |
